The conference, entitled “Safeguarding Intangible Heritage and Sustainable Cultural Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges,” will bring together some 20 heritage experts and cultural officials in the Southeast and East Asia regions.
It aims to re-examine existing theoretical and practical paradigms, introduce common tools for safe-guarding intangible cultural heritage and foster interdisciplinary and intercultural academic exchange for sustainable development.
The gathering, scheduled for December 11-13, is organized by the Office of the UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific, and the Republic of Korea-based Establishment Initiative for the Intangible Heritage Center for Asia Pacific.
